jaysus,,,I've read all the posts here. God please portect me I've really never moved in my life but the time has come to go to another place. I wish I was like the caribou but I'm more like calcified molasses. I hope I pick right and be able to adjust to somewhere else. All of you who've done moves and moves I don't know how you did it. All that upheaval!
We had to move back home and really hate it here. We have now found that for my health, I should not be here. Can't leave until a part of the situation is taken care of, then we are free to leave again.
I think that there is a lot of good out of making a move, that did not work out. Sure, it can be a costly lesson, but I applaud people who decide to actively seeking change to improve their lives.
I was working a job, that was not challenging, stuck, I could have easily stayed there for another 25 years. I decided to look around for something else, and took a giant leap of faith. I am really happy now I did that. It was a bold career decision. The first job did not work out, due to the personality of the country worker... I left, no loss there. But, it got me to this job. And where I live now. I am happier than I have ever been.
So, it is just part of the journey. Staying stagnant out of fear of change is worse than taking a risk to me.

Most people will choose stagnation over change, even potentially positive ones. Change is very threatening to most of us humans. But, like you say, I think you have to take on your fears directly. Empowers you.
Stop right there- sitting alone drinking in you apartment at your age is a thing called - feeling sorry for yourself. Get out there and be positive- You are just looking for excuses to paint the world darker than it really is. Geography is not the answer. In time you will appreciate a more simple life- life is not one long party..get down to business and get going.
Old thread now I guess, but have to say if I had to live in Tucson, or Phoenix, I'd slash my own throat. Same with OKC. And yes, made the mistake of moving from a place to one of the most pristine locations in the SE. Nostalgia. Turned out to be boring, inconvenient despite the natural beauty. After a couple of years, sold out and returned to the original spot. Lesson learned. Never again.
Everyone is so different, I love the Phoenix area.
Living through multiple "summers," 4-5 mths. long over 100 does get on your nerves or rather your heat sensors. Last few summers, in August, the temps were 112-114 every day, nights 90+.
Oh no, no, I've been in Phoenix for 25 years it's never been 112-114 in August everyday.It's hot but it's never a steady 112-114 everyday in any Summer month in Phx. I can understand that some think anything over 100 can feel like that. The avg temp in Aug is 105. The record was 116 in 2003.
