I'm looking for general advice on moving to D.C. without a job. It's a risky change so I've been looking for temp housing and sublets to be able to stay somewhere for 2-3 months before I find full-time employment.
Does anyone have similar experience, and what are your thoughts on sublets in D.C. as a temp option for job searchers?
I'm finishing a Master's program in Pennsylvania in 4 weeks and my current lease is up on May 1st. I have about 7K in savings + school debt + car loan. I know how to live on a budget, etc. And I've been in difficult life situations before and am ready to wait on tables, clean houses and walk dogs if I have to.
Anyways, I've also noticed that looking for jobs in D.C. living in PA hasn't been very fruitful. My guess is that a local D.C. address will make a difference.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks!
P.S. I've been kind of freaking out with this lease expiring, still thinking about the move and not having new housing. I have friends in Arlington who offered me to stay with them for 2 weeks if I had nowhere else to live but I would like that to be the absolute last resort.
