Every rental truck Ive ever had, no matter what company, I would not trust it to make a trip of more than a few hours. Some of them I was not happy to take across town.

If you are moving for Bakken oil field jobs, be certain they still exist. Major layoffs have been occurring due to oil price drops.

If you drive a rental moving truck, have hotel reservations made in advance. Use calculation of 60 miles per hour and add an hour or two for fueling stops. Keep time zone changes in mind also.

Avoid moving non valuable items unless family heirlooms. It is more costly to move them than to buy replacements.

THIS. THIS. THIS.

Take a hard look at your things and only take what is truly irreplaceable. "Stuff" can be bought anywhere. If you move to an extremely podunk town with no stores, then mail order your new stuff after settling into the next place. You probably won't need to through, garage sales and church sales happen even in very small towns.
