It's all you really need.

The list of outlets it has are ALL within a few miles of any motel choices.

But I have always gotten where I wanted to go, even if it took a few miles more avoiding heavy traffic.
Yes, both apps can be helpful, but correct me if I'm wrong; I believe it's not possible to select the entire route of my choosing with either Waze or Google Maps - particularly on a long cross-country drive.

If I use either app, instead of a dedicated GPS nav gadget, I may have to settle for instructing the app with specific starting and stopping points on a daily basis.

But I'll NEVER suggest anyone take I-40 ...at any time.
Check wind reports.
Thanks for the warning.

Anyone else recommend avoiding I-40?

Good idea. I also plan to check with AAA.

Travel across country in the Spring time will offer up some interesting weather events. Just keep an eye on the weather as you travel. Don't try to drive through a major front.
Things to keep in mind.
The weather systems will move basically West to East.
When to get to Texas on I-40, there is a stretch of very flat land between the Western Texas state line and OK City. The wind can be "interesting"
Just mind the weather web sites, and don't try to push through nasty weather.

I-80 is far more dangerous than I-40 when it comes to wind and weather.

My son the trucker uses that one quite a bit when he is running a new route.

Default What's Wrong With Pennsylvania?

Both Google Maps and the AAA website seem to dislike Pennsylvania for some reason.

Regardless of whether it's the northern or southern route, both mapping sites want to route me up to Cleveland and Buffalo through the state of NY, and into MA - completely bypassing PA and CT.

What am I missing?
