Actually, while the amount of crime in most growing towns goes up, as our society ages and Police uses more advanced techniques the CRIME RATE has gone down. Your chance of being directly affected by crime has gone down in most communities to 1960s levels. There is just more crime because there is more people. But the rate is down.

I have never been directly affected by crime myself and I am 51.

Unless your community experiences a massive population growth --that would be a valid statement.
