A positive thread for a change! Or at least, for a few posts, before the "negativists" get hold of it.
I was very impressed by the beautiful pictures of Philadelphia. I was very surprised at so many people unhappy with Michigan. I've always heard (from local transplants) how great it is. It still sounds like a beautiful state.
Are you kidding me? Not too many people want to move to a ran down blue collar town that saw it's best days 30 years ago(not saying much). Not to mention it's in the forgotten area of PA that amounts to a cultural wasteland.
its best days were long prior to 30 years ago. i was there then and even my 9 year old self saw how depressing it was.
I would have to say that Wisconsin for some reason seems more appealing. The only things I knew previously about that state were that it was cold and also UW Madison, but now I see pics of the beauty of that state. One state I don't see why people like is North Carolina, other than the outer banks after visiting the "cities" in that state I have no idea why people would live in that cultural wasteland and completely boring state other than maybe jobs, but you can find jobs anywhere, esp. places that are more vibrant and with better weather, Florida is also made less appealing on these boards, but I already knew that it was unappealing before I discovered this site!

Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma all seem to have nice folks and a take it slow attitude that appeals to me.. When I retire I'd like to look out the window every morning and see green... Not alot of people, room for animals, a fishing and hunting attitude... a tractor and a garden....ahhhh 8 more years in the rat race

Definitely Colorado. I've always been intrigued by it, but it's one of the few places on here that it seems is almost universally praised by residents. I even briefly entertained a move out there, partially as a result of this board, but New York won out.
City-wise, there's quite a few places that have piqued my interest, perhaps none more than Madison, Wisconsin. Again, it just seems to be a city that is constantly raved about and that I have always been curious about. Boise is another one that while I have no interest in living in for various reasons, would love to visit. I've also always been enamored with Seattle and pwright's photo threads only make me that much more intoxicated by it.
Less appealing? A whole hell of a lot of places, but I'll save that for another thread.

I have nothing against NC, I am also a New Yorker who is living in Houston right now. I just feel that North Carolina is a victim of unnecesary hype that will lead to it's becoming like Florida and Southern Calif. with the mindnumbing endless subdivisions, crime and water issues. So I don't think that being a huge growth state should be veiwed as a good thing. Texas is not perfect, but it is not any worse than anywhere in the south either!
