Misconception #1: Vermont is wet, rains all the time, because it's in the eastern region.

Fact: Vermont is drier than many eastern states, with the average around 86 F in southern Vermont and has many sunny days in the summer and winter.

Misconception #2: Vermont has endless amounts of mosquitoes.

Fact: That's far from the typical!
The average rain fall in Vermont is not favorable for mosquitoes like it is in Florida.

Portland, Oregon - The misconception that it is gods gift to America and is better than every other place in the USA. That it constantly is listed in some Best Place to Live Article in America, as the only place to live in this country. I don't get it. I can't imagine someone wanting to move here and raise a family in this place. High amounts of people on Anti depressents, suicide, drug useage even in Public places. Homeless and panhandling like most of us have never seen in such high numbers across America, all over this city and some of its suburbs. Portland isn't all that big. So these social problems that are so in your face here, I would think for many Americans be an unappealing location. Porno and Child Traffic capitol of the country. High cost of living but little to no employment. Has been the highest for unemployment for 14 years straight at or near Michigans rate. Long before the economy tanked. You never see any of this mentioned in all these how glorious and green and progressive Portland is in any of these articles. But thats the reality of Portland and much of Oregon and thats its misconception. Oregon and Portland especially is not what it says it is, and has given a very false portrayal of itself to the outside world.

Anyways misconceptions about California.
-Everyone acts like "Surfs us dude" whatever that is
-We see movie stars a lot...um no
-We all surf, no
-weather is fantastic all of the time in California, not true and it is very diverse
-People are rude, not all of us
-It doesn't snow in California...California is one of the snowiest places in US.
-LA is full of smog, ok that one is true

Is it a misconception that I still want Portland harder than Beyonce on drug overdose?

I never heard either of those things about Vermont.

My late MIL, who was from Maine, said Vermont was the most beautiful of the New England states. It's the only one I haven't been to, too!

The other things that's said about Vermont is that the people are sort of laid back hippie types, but that's not necessarily said in a negative way.

If you don't like the weather in SoCal cities you just don't like being outside. 70's or 80's and sunny is paradise to most people. Everybody gets heatwaves too, so that's nothing unique to CA. Only Hawaii has better weather than SoCal.

The only thing I find questionable is your past attendance in any geography class.
Lesson #1: Philadelphia ( this is your stated location with the exclamation (!) point, is actually in the state of Pennsylvania.

Just an FYI, J. Starks
