That's very subjective. It depends on what you are looking for in a city.

How big of a city? Is cost of living important? Tax rates? Services? Mass transit?

Cost is important, not to expensive but then again im not expecting it to be free, moderate tax, reasonable amount of services. I'd say miluawkee and Grand Rapids and no smaller in terms of size

You would probably do well to look at Midwestern cities like the ones you mentioned, then. There are a number of cities around America that would probably fit your criteria, but you might use the Midwest, with cities like Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Columbus, Indianapolis, etc. to start with.

I see you're also living in London, are you an American citizen or do you have/qualify for a US visa? If not, you might want to research into whether moving to the US is a viable option for you before you begin selecting individual cities to relocate to.

Check out Cincinnati as well. We get a bad rap for being conservative, when in actuality we are not. Just the ring of suburbs around us is. Great architecture and history. World class arts.

"...world class arts.."

Yeah. right. Cincinnatti is the city that elected Jerry Springer mayor. But maybe that makes the OP feel at home. Springer was born in England. In the Highgate tube station actually. Born low, stay low.
