Dallas: Ft. Worth?

Have these cities completely lost their identities?
Are you freaking serious...?

Frederick, Maryland and Fredericksburg, VA have been sucked into the DC area. Westminster, Maryland has been sucked into the Baltimore region. But the best example would probably be the Inland Empire in Southern California which is all now part of the Greater Los Angeles area.

Florence, AZ. A town in the desert until about 10 years ago, now at the outer edge of Greater Phoenix

I'm not sure why you used Westminster as an example. For one thing, I don't think of it as a city because its population is under 20,000. It probably technically is a city, but... Anyway, the center of Westminster is just over 25 miles from the center of Baltimore. That is a long way in the relatively compact Baltimore Area, but compared to some of the really sprawling metros, that is nothing.

Absorbed into the Greater San Francisco Bay Area:

- Gilroy
- Livermore
- Santa Rosa
- Fairfield
- (in the future) Sacramento

I always thought that Westminster was always part of the Baltimore Metro. If he said Hanover, PA; or York, PA, then it would make more sense.
