It seems to me that different states have different names that recur frequently in various geographic features like cities, counties, roads, etc. For example, "Perry" is a name that recurs in Pennsylvania. There's a Perry County near Harrisburg, a Perrysville Avenue in Pittsburgh, which turns into Perry Highway north of Pittsburgh. There's also a small town about an hour southeast of Pittsburgh called Perryopolis. In Georgia, "Lumpkin" seems to be a recurring name, with a Lumpkin County in the north Georgia mountains, a small town called Lumpkin near Columbus, and Lumpkin Street in Athens.
So which names seem to recur a lot in your state? I'll list a couple of states here:
Pennsylvania
- Bradford
- Chester
- Clarion
- Franklin
- Huntingdon
- Lebanon
- Mifflin
- Perry
- Schuylkill
- Strabane
- Union
- Washington
Georgia
- Carroll
- Douglas
- Habersham
- Hart
- Jackson
- Lanier
- Lee
- Lumpkin
- Milledge
- Oglethorpe
- Thomas
- Tift
(NOTE: Please limit the list to names that are not Indian-derived.)

You wouldn't think so, but in the state of New York there are actually THREE Brooklyns!
Kings County (that's the one people have actually heard of, where the Dodgers used to play baseball)...but there are communities named Brooklyn in both Delaware and Cattaraugus counties.

There are 2 Elgins within about 50 miles of each other in Central South Carolina. Also, several cities have roads with Two Notch in the name (Columbia, Charleston, Aiken, Lexington).
In Missouri, there's Jefferson County and Jefferson City (the capital, which is not located in Jefferson Co.) There's also Washington County and the city of Washington (which is located in Franklin Co.) And both Jefferson and Washington are extremely common street names in Missouri. In the St. Louis urban area alone, there are several different streets with those two names.
Curiously, there are also several thoroughfares in Missouri named "Kingshighway". For example, there's one in Cape Girardeau, one in St. Charles, one in Rolla, one in St. Louis, (and another one across the river in East St. Louis.)
Ozark is also a common name in Missouri, due to the Ozark mountains. There's also the Lake of the Ozarks, Ozark County, the town of Ozark (Christian Co.), the city of Lake Ozark (Camden Co.), as well as the unincorporated town of Ozora (near Ste. Genevieve).
There's also Washington County and the city of Washington (which is located in Franklin Co.)
Now that you mention it, Washington is a pretty common name all across the United States. I wonder if there's any state that hasn't got a county, city or town named for the first President.

And the city of Salem, NC, which merged with the adjoining city of Winston to become Winston-Salem.
Otherwise in North Carolina,
Tryon, Lenoir, Washington, Fairview and Concord are names that reoccur at least twice in some fashion (cities, unincorporated communities/villages, streets, landmarks, counties, et. al.) in NC.
