Hi guys! Here is a list of all your city's new state mottos! I relocated this past summer to Chicago from Michigan for a brand new career and while I am enjoying the big city life and all the wonderful attractions, Illinois itself is pretty bland for my tastes (except downtown Chi) and the people here seem ugh, very homerish, and kinda unhappy? It's not THAT bad! Well, maybe. Wwoops! Maybe this will make you smile Smooch!

Not humorous but these are apparently some actual repealed, abandoned, or rejected mottos.

"Imperium in Imperio" - Ohio for like a year.
"The Union" - Oregon from 1957 to 1987.
"Industry the Means, Plenty the Result" looks to have been some sort of Maryland motto for a time.

I've often wondered about this:

It seems a rather bitter town.

"the Biggest Little State in the Union" Rhode Island, but maybe that was just an ad campaign.

The saying was one from the early 1900's when a LOT of merchandise was made in Trenton, and shipped around the Country. Here is a nice website explaining how it came to be. (One of the many useless tidbits of information I had picked up over the years )
