I got gas today (one day after your post according to CD) because I saw the price at the Walmart near my GF's place go up 25 cents in one day ($2.34 9/10 to $2.59 9/10). After seeing that, I drove over to my 'go to' station (close by and I had other things to do over there), and paid $2.25 9/10....9 cents less that what the Walmart was yesterday, 34 cents less than what the Walmart is today, and 10 cents (all per gallon) less than I paid for my last tank (which was at that 'go to' station). Re how much gas I had left before getting the gas...I probably could have waited one more day. All in the Houston, TX metro.
I used to fill up every time, but re the effect the way I did it might have on any car, I switched a couple of years ago to putting in 8.75 gallons each time (I have a high MPG vehicle), and this was my first 'tank' under $20.00 in a long time.
Thankfully we're still at $4.08 a gallon on base out in Honolulu. The prices off base don't seem to have budged either.
$4.28 a gallon for regular grade in Mountain View, CA (SF Bay Area.)
