Accent Tag - from Ohio - YouTube

Hers was one of the stronger examples I found.

Notice words like, 'tag', 'Alabama', and of course the 'o' vowels in 'box.'

Just a poll to see what you think about it.

Actually her 'o' vowel isn't that bad. Pop sounds like 'pap', lol. I don't mind how she she drags on 'Daady long legs' but it does stand out.

This accent is quite moderate compared to some I have heard in southern Wisconsin and parts of Chicagoland.

I personally don't like it but I think it's nice that the US still has regional differences like this

Sounds about right for this area as well. A few words were a bit stronger sounding that we do, but not by much... probably only noticed it because I was listening for any difference. What do I think about the accent? Don't think much about accents at all to tell the truth, it doesn't bother me at all.

there is a pretty big difference even within the great lakes cities themselves. I hear Chicagoans who BARELY have an accent and have lived there forever, and then some with very strong accents. Same goes with Cleveland and basically any city in america.

She is closer to "General American" English than most.

It's not that thick, but some words do have an Upper Midwest sound to them.

Overall, I like that accent...it's more pleasant than the southern sounding one on the opposite side of the state.

that's a thick accent to me. The accent in St. Louis is somewhat similar, but not as strong, and a lot of people don't really have an accent.

With any accent, it can sound good or bad depending on who's talking

The really interesting thing is when you start combining the NCVS accent with the Northwood accent. The combined influence results in a thicker accent. The combined influence is more common in parts of Michigan and Wisconsin.
