Definitely don't think cities like San Francisco and Seattle have a "live and let live" attitude. More like a "if you don't agree with my flawed political view than you are gonna get protested" attitude.
So.Cal and Arizona, Colorado, Utah and New Mexico are definitely more live and let live.
I don't agree with this. I am a Seattle native, (and I can't speak to SF specifically), but in Seattle there is very little judgement. While it is a liberal city, it is rarely "in your face". Especially when you take the whole city into consideration. Seattle is not just Belltown, Capitol Hill, and South Lake Union. It is a city of dozens of neighborhoods many of which are actually more conservative than you might expect. But you have to get out of the urban core to figure this out. Trust me on this. Seattle has a varied population once you get north of the ship canal and south of Boeing Field.

I was at my church in Louisiana a few weeks ago and we had a guest preacher who travels the country who has spent a significant time in the Pacific Northwest including Seattle. He mentioned that while the area is all into "open mindedness" and political correctness, Christians are the one group people that can be openly hated.
Now for Portland....I've heard stories of SUVs being vandalized and their windows smashed by radical hippie tree huggers, sometimes with notes claiming they hate the Earth, are destroying the world, are responsible for the Iraq war, etc etc. it is a lot safer for a gay couple to walk down the streets in a small Bible Belt town than to walk down the streets of Seattle or Portland wearing a Trump shirt.
A year ago I walked into a pizza restaurant/bar in Seattle's Capital Hill district with my friend who was wearing a Donald Trump MAGA T-Shirt. The sign on the door said "This a no hate zone" A sign inside said "This is a safe space, no homophobia, racism or sexism will be accepted". I wondered if my friend would get kicked out just for wearing the shirt.
Two young men saw my friends shirt, got behind him and started flipping him off (without saying a word to him...typical Seattle passive-aggressiveness). They kept doing this for awhile when a bouncer appeared. I thought my friend would get booted out.Instead he approached the two young guys and said "this is a no hate zone, you can't do that in here" and then he escorted them out the door. What a surprising twist.
you dont even have to cross the Texas state line to find the Bible Belt feel....towns like Roswell,Carlsbad,Hobbs,Artesia,Clovis,Portales,Jal , and Lovington,New Mexico. They call that part of the Zia State "Little Texas"
I thought these people are too proud to be New Mexican to emulate Texas? Especially when Texas conquered the El Paso area, which has historically been part of southern New Mexico.

I dont know the reasons why but that part of America's Land of Enchantment is just more like the Lone Star State than NM for whatever reasons.Could you tell me the history of Texas conquering El Paso?

Eastern New Mexicans loooove Texas. They look to Lubbock and Midland, not Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

And you didn't say or do a thing for your buddy? You can't talk about Seattle passive aggressiveness without looking in the mirror first.
