I think it could be more interesting to hear about the cities that don't have any suburbs over 100,000.

But, back to the original topic, Raleigh has one suburb over 100K: Cary at ~140,000. It's the exception and is North Carolina's largest suburb. Unless one actually considers High Point a suburb of Greensboro, Cary is the only suburb in the state that exceeds 100K.

PA a state of ~ 12 million has only two cities/towns over 100K - maybe the outlier here among states

You forgot Denton with 115,810 and Irving at 218,850. Also, you forgot the biggest suburb of them all in Fort Worth. So Dallas has 12 total.

From highest population to lowest, there's Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Tempe, Peoria and Surprise. If the valley ever experienced heavy growth again, then Avondale is the closest to be the next city to crack 100K in population.

I counted 36 total for the LA CSA

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Los_Angeles_Area

I'd imagine this would be the "winner" of the thread.

It's interesting that as densely populated as New Jersey is, and bordering New York City and Philadelphia, that only a few places in the entire state have populations over 100K.
