You could to Upstate NY, where it is more laid back and down to earth. You could pick any of the cities that fit your criteria and it would be a matter of finding the right people to hang with.

NYC- we love everyone. Behind rough exteriors like our neighbouring NJ folks, we are actually very friendly and the most tolerant people in the country... esp toward gays. NYC is super gay friendly.

THANK YOU! I think there is a difference between being friendly and polite. I think I have met 2 types of people in my life. The type who are really polite, but lack expressions, opinions, they are cold and reserved and some are really really boring. The type where even if you express an opinion or say a joke, they often don't like it. There are too much formalities that even expressing opinions, saying jokes or even greeting them in a casual way is considered "too rude", "disrespectful" or "offensive"...These people are a bunch of squares, and I am trying to get away from them.

Then there's the type who are really friendly. These type of people tend to like to talk and laugh a lot, flirt a lot or be romantic, share ideas, although some can be inconsiderate, and rude without knowing, Probably because what other people would take as offensive, to them it is no big deal really. Some places I really had in mind were like Texas, or somewhere like Georgia, Virginia or even New Jersey.

To me the perfect person would be a mix of both, but I want to be realistic, you can only get one or the other so I will choose I want a place where I can find the latter type I described
