Where can I find detailed info on crime rates in these metros?
The FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program keeps track of crime statistics. The annually published Crime in the United States report includes crime statistics for metropolitan areas across the country.

Crime Statistics can be useful but one has to know the geography behind them. In most cities crime is very concentrated in specific neighborhoods that most who post here wouldn't consider living in or spending any time in. Outside of purchasing a home in a transitional neighborhood, in my opinion these statistics offer little other than anxiety to those who don't understand the specifics.
