Great thread.

I didn't know architecture like that existed in the US. ...

I guess I've lived in some lousy places for architecture.

I love the contributions. Churches are some of the most beautiful buildings in the world. Here are some pictures of Catheral of St. Paul's co-Catheral, Basilica of St. Mary (Minneapolis).

Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

There are many beautiful cathedrals in Chicago but there is one small church that is
a national landmark. Holy Trinity Cathedral is a small church nestled in a dense
neighborhood in Chicago. Tsar Nicholas of Russia financed the construction
(1899-1903) and the noted architect was Louis Sullivan.

That is an absolutely beautiful Cathedral. It is worth a trip to see that. I'm a big admirer of
byzantine art as well as gothic Cathedrals.

I noticed the steps up to Grace Cathedral were all ripped up today to fix a leak underneath them, I think. Sad to see the piles of broken concrete and chain link fence around such a beautiful building.

You've been to the St. Paul Cathedral?
