It does but Lafayette does it well. Nightlife there is more focused on dancing, food, and drinking. Pretty safe city with tons of Cajun culture.

You miss the point. If the town is focusing on dancing, food and drinking, who is at home tucking in the kiddies that make the town "family friendly" ?

I think that is a personal belief, that kids need to be tucked in at 8. Visit kid friendly cities and you'd be surprised to see children there at 8pm having a blast listening to music, playing in the fountain meant for them and chowing down on some fro-yo. I'm not judging, my boy is under the covers at 8:30, but i see no harm in going downtown occasionally on weekends for the above mentioned activities.
