Today I have used two great American inventions (disregarding stuff in my computer) – I used my iPhone and had a diet Coke.

Chuck Berry may have pattented the easiest way to do a "rock n roll guitar solo" for kids coming up, but he's never, ever, to my knowledge been called the "King of Rock n Roll." That moniker belongs to Elvis, who preceded Chuck and was himself preceded by others. Jerry Lee might beg to differ, or scream about being the "real" king after drunkenly driving through Elvis' front gate (true story), but Chuck isn't even in the conversation.

If you're talking about Benjamin Franklin, he didn't discover electricity, he found out that lightning is electricity. Everyone more or less knew electricity existed, they just weren't sure what lightning was.

Oh, and this Internet thing.
Northeast Ohio has relatively cool but humid summers. However, as an allergy sufferer, I agree completely about air conditioning.

I like to say that Willis Carrier is a candidate for sainthood!
