Of the ten households that are geographically nearest to your front door, how many of the ten do you know by name (first and last) and have had at least one social exchange?

I had to say zero, because I do not know anybody's last name There are only three that I have been friendly with, but I only know their first names.

Good friends with the one downstairs. He's coming up for dinner today. He's from a very different walk of life than I, but that's what makes him so interesting.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you out there!

All of them. We have 14 houses on our block alone (double length city block) and I know all of the people... adults and kids alike. They range in age from 2 to mid 80's in age. Our two oldest neighbors have left the neighborhood now, one died (92 years old) and one wasn't able to come home due to being easily confused now (97 years old) even though she is in excellent health. WAY more than one social interaction with each of them as well, we all get along great and watch each others houses when someone is on vacation, even watch each others kids.

I've met all of them numerous times in the three years that we have lived here. We chat on the street when we see each other, we attend each others' parties, and we have access to three of the nearest houses (keys, garage door openers, security codes).

On Christmas Eve, we build a bonfire in the middle of the neighborhood where we all gather for mulled wine and snacks.

When one of us goes on vacation, the others take care of the house, the pets, the pool, the yard, the mail, etc. We drive each other to the airport and pick each other up as well. Once every other month, the female neighborhood members go out to lunch together.

If any neighbor has a need, whether it's gasoline, oil, help carrying or fixing something, there is always somebody happy to step up to the plate.

I have NEVER lived in a neighborhood like this before - I don't know if it's just Southern hospitality, but this is certainly unusual to me.

On my cul-de-sac, I have a good relationship with each family. I baked and gave chocolate bunt cakes this morning to each house and I received a homemade dessert dish from each of them too.

I'm on a tight rowhome block and know pretty much everyone by face. Personally, I know about 10-15 of my neighbors and there are also block parties and random gatherings, so always an opportunity to get to know people.

Far less than the last place I lived. We moved from a SFH neighborhood to a highrise condominium. About the only opportunity for neighborly interaction is at the mailboxes or an HOA meeting.
As far as the island goes, I know many of them quite well. It's a big community for walking, and I see many of them in the morning while we're running our dogs on the beach.

We really only have two neighbors...my mother and father in law and another couple. Obviously we know them. The next closest "neighbors" would be in a housing development a mile away. Don't know them.

46 units in my building, and although I always say "hello" to everyone, I'm only on a first name basis with the guy in the unit next to mine.
