I know that immigration from India and other related parts of Asia is rather a new phenomenon, compared to say, the Italians and Irish in the northeast, the Germans in the midwest and the Chinese on the west coast.
Often, most people of Indian ethnic background you'll encounter will be first or second generation immigrants. I know there are sizeable communities now in the Tri-state area, in California, in Texas etc. but which communities are the oldest and how far back do they go?
Are there sizeable communities of Indian descent going back say, three, four, five generations? If so, where are they?
My best estimate would be there are some older communities in and around Stockton, California. Parts of the Central and Sacramento Valleys radiating from that city, too.
Note sure about oldest, but Artesia (Southern California), Fremont and Sunnyvale have established Indian communities.
