Why is Philly not considered cool like Chicago/NYC? (cost of living, club)

I was there in March of this year. My daughter wanted to tour Walnut Hill College as a possible culinary school choice. I had a hotel down on Broad slightly below Market. We went out at 8:30 to try to find a bite to eat. It was strangely quiet for a big city with the population of the 6th largest city in the country. Very disappointing.

Either you're lying or trolling, but CC is far from quiet or dead; it has the highest downtown residential population lol.

Did it occur to you that the world was still in the throes of a pandemic in March (apparently we still are)? How odd not to account for that.
Don't know of any large city downtown that was vibrant in March 2021. In fact, all cities are still grappling with reduced vitality until we have some long-term sense of normalcy.

I call BS on that unless Philly was on lockdown in March. I got video and pictures of those same areas packed full of people. Matter fact me and Wife were in that area well up to 12:00 am walking back to our hotel in Rittenhouse square and it was still tons of people out and about.
I lifted this post off another thread I wrote in many years ago. I think these observations still hold.
Philadelphia citizens will be forever mired in the fact that when it comes to the Northeast, they are the most nondescript of the four major cities, inclusive NYC, Boston, and D.C.
Philly isn't considered cool? That would be news to me.
Maybe because this thread was started in 2013?? Philly is a great city. It's a great alternative to other expensive east coast cities like New York and DC.

I was in Miami and Key West one month later, and both places were incredibly vibrant. Just my observation. I am not a troll. I lived in Southern NJ for four years, so I have been to Philadelphia a lot in my life. I prefer Philadelphia's suburbs to other northeastern cities.

Yeah I mean nightlife was obviously subdued everywhere in March of this year. If you come back and find it quiet, you either don't know how to research neighborhoods, or you have a bizarre definition of "quiet." Yeah some of the residential neighborhoods can be quiet-ish at night (no surprise), but Center City and many of our core neighborhoods are bustling at that hour.

That's just a Florida thing. Florida never really shut down like other states did. I was in St. Pete and Miami during the height of the shutdown, and those places were quite vibrant compared to much of the rest of the country because things hadn't really shut down, if at all.
