There are four long distance trails that I know of in the U.S., the Pacific Crest Trail, through the Desert, Sierra Nevada, and Cascade Range; the Continental Divide Trail, traversing the spine of the Rocky Mountains; the Appalachian Trail, travelling over the green Appalachian Mountains, and lastly the Pacific Northwest Trail, travelling from the Continental Divide in Glacier National Park, over the Okanogan Mtns, North Cascades, San Juan Islands, Olympic Mountains, and reaching the Pacific Coast in Olympic National Park.
Which trail is the most prettiest to you? (Post pictures if you have some!!)
I like the AT, but all the long distance trails are nice. You forgot the longest one though... the North Country Trail.
Didn't know about that one! Thanks for telling me about it. You know, that trail reminds me of the Pacific Northwest Trail, which also goes east-west along the northern U.S. I wonder if they will ever link these two trails together, so one can hike from the East Coast to the West Coast. A similar thing happened with the Pacific Crest Trail: the Oregon portion was named the Skyline Trail, and the Washington segment was named the Cascade Crest Trail.
