Which of the fifty states do you think attracts the most people who want to move into the state with no job lined up and why?

It seems like some people just don't care about having a job lined up sometimes, and just move to a new place in hopes that they're gonna make it somehow.

But which state or metro area even, do you think attracts these kinds of people the most?

I'd also add a whole assortment of young naïve ones that go there to party for a 6 month to a year long stint, but usually end up back home again.

NYC actually, but that's dumb. People think they can just move to NYC, sleep on someone's couch & "make it". Doesn't work that way! NYC is hard to get into the job market and even harder to prove you can make it. NYC is a great place for hard-working people but if you come here without a job you will have a miserable & tough time.

When I relocated to NYC from Hartford, I had a job lined up. But I only lasted there for less than 2 years. It's a really tough, stressful place to live. And VERY expensive of course.

However, I know a guy (originally from Oklahoma City) who relocated from Dallas to NYC with no job lined up whatsoever. He actually got laid off from his job in Dallas and was collecting unemployment for like a year. He also sold his Lexus and managed to have $17,000 in savings, and he blew all of it in just one year, living in NYC. He was living in hostels the entire time, paying only $18 per day, going to bars four times a week and hooking up with multiple partners on a weekly basis. He eventually found a job, but quit after a few months, because he hated it. For the next few years he sort of winged it through some how, but eventually gave up and started a college program in Charlottesville, VA and got a degree in the medical field. Finally, when school was over, he moved away and ended up in..........

OKLAHOMA CITY again!

Florida would be correct, minus the retiree aspect since they're not looking for a job typically....

It's mind-numbing how many move down here to Florida where the job market is largely so weak and where average salaries are so abysmal. I can't count the number of times I hear "we spent a week at Disney World and loved it", which for anyone lacking any common sense means to move here because living here will be just like that experience.

I just remembered this clip off of this forum from a couple years ago...hysterically accurate.

I'd say North Dakota probably gets a good number nowadays.
