These are all so different I don't see how you can compare them. It's like which is better, apples or oranges. Pretty hard to compare Acadia Nat'l with the Everglades, both (mostly) unspolied wilderness with wildly different characteristics.

Agreed about the differences, especially the Everglades. I would say that the Everglades, along with the adjacent Big Cypress National Preserve (Big Cypress National Preserve - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )is definitely one of the most unique parks, not just in the East but also in the entire country.
Many of the most natural and scenic areas of the east are not in the National Park system which is part of why comparing NP of the East vs. West is bound to be lopsided. I don't count NF and NWRs, though since they are not, by definition National Parks.
I vote for Acadia, with Shenandoah runner up.

Do you consider New Mexico to be the eastern U.S.? Big Bend is almost due south of New Mexico.
Eastern woodlands begin. Deciduous forest of Oak, Hickory, Beech, and Maple. Also, quaint church steeples rise above the village greens and colonial and Georgian architecture characteristic of eastern Arizona.
