You can just see the uniformed stereotypes oozing out of those maps.
I agree, NY the rudest, Mississippi gets dumbest, worst food etc. Texas gets the hate because of its status as the poster state for right wing politics (even though its not the most conservative) Ugliest states are all Midwest, more stereotypes. People need to get out and see this country instead of clinging to some of this. There is some very good scenery in the Midwest, some great food in Mississippi and you might find one or two nice people in NY lol. I bet Massachusetts has plenty of dumb people as well.
This just reflects stereotypes and shows ignorance, like many other polls when you ask people nationally what they think about the rest of the country. "Worst scenery", NJ's up there… if I showed them pictures from around NJ these idiots would never know it was NJ - Delaware Water Gap, Island Beach State Park, Pine Barrens, quaint shore towns, upper class NYC suburban towns, the Palisades, etc. Meawhile in their heads they're picturing the airport and the Turnpike, as if that's all we have here. Right, we're the most densely populated state in the country, 11th in population yet like the 3rd smallest, because we're such an ugly state? Makes perfect sense. Also we're pretty up there on "worst food" in this poll… we have some of the best Italian food and bagels in the country. Get pizza or Italian food in general outside of the New York City area or even the Northeast in general and 9 times out of 10 it's inedible. We're also known for our fresh produce - tomatoes, corn, peaches, cranberries - you know, the Garden State and all. Also, our food in general is pretty diverse because we are such a diverse state - you can find basically any type of ethnic food here.
And this is just about my own state. I have many things to say about the responses about other states but I won't waste my breath (fingers?).
It was interesting seeing Texas being the state that most people wanted "kicked out" of the United States. At the same time, Texas is and has always had a faction of people wanted to secede from the United States. I wonder if the two points are related.

Many Texans often boast about being the biggest and best, as well as how they'd be better off separate from the rest of the US since they're apparently our "biggest salvation" so no it's not terribly surprising to see those results in my opinion.
