This is interesting cuz even bigger state capitals can get overlooked depending on the other cities within the state. I'll do my own mental challenge on myself ...

California cities...GO!

1. Los Angeles
2. San Francisco
3. San Diego
4. Oakland
5. Anaheim
6. San Jose
7. Sacramento

Sacramento = 7

Also, states with a lone giant (Illinois - Chicago) crush their capitals (Springfield). Unless of course the giant is the capital (Denver).

Not "forgotten" per se, but St. Paul MN is most definitely overshadowed by Minneapolis.

Good call on Jefferson City - the one capital I can never remember for some reason.

why isnt jefferson city missouri on this? Missouri has several larger cities and 2 large metros.. Yet its capital is in the middle of the state south of Columbia in a rinky dink town nobody really cares about.

You put Anaheim ahead of Sac-town? No way. Personally, I think of Sacramento way before Anaheim or even San Jose. I only associate San Jose with the Bay Area.
