The California/West Coast dialect is actually a blend of the other three dialects (Midwest, Southern, Northeast) thanks to shifting settling patterns.

Of course not.

Most English speakers don't even know that their language falls into the Germanic language group.

Some of us of, however are aware of these things. That doesn't make a new yorker sound anything like a southerner, anymore than I sound like an Australian, just because a dialect comes from a single source does not mean it will sound anything like said source a couple hundred years later.

General southern US by Far, im sorry but i just can't stand it. Don't get me wrong, i like southerners! Just not their accents! It just doesn't seem very high class to me at all
I also strongly dislike the Bastin accent, the Texas, Minnesota/Wisconsin, and sometimes the Canadian can get on my nerves, but it's not that bad
The rest I like!

Tough call. I find the Boston and deep southern accents both unappealing.

I LOVE the Boston accent which is why I listen to Click and Clack on NPR every Saturday .

Same for me. I grew up here in South Florida, where first of all youre lucky if someone even speaks english, and when they do, its always with a hispanic type of accent. And then I moved to Georgia.. oh my goodness. At first I couldnt even understand half the things they'd say to me. After a while of hearing it I got a little more used to it, but I really dont like it.

Where did you hear that from? The stereotypical "New Yawrk" accent is most prominent amongst Italian descendants (visit Staten Island sometime). Nowhere in the Deep South will you find large Italian-American communities, except for New Orleans, which has its own, very distinctive, accent. Southerners have accents shaped by their Scots-Irish, English, and African ancestors. Only parts of Lousiana will have accents and dialects derived from or influenced by French.

I hear ya (no pun intended)! I am from Pittsburgh. There aren't a lot of us out here in CO, but the biggest compliment we pay each other when we meet is: you don't have the accent! It's hard to describe, but not pleasant.

I LOVE the Texas accent! I loved hearing Dan Rather on the news!

I do agree that EVERYONE has an accent, but the midwestern accent is supposed to be the most understandable in the US. That is why many calling centers are located in Omaha, Nebraska.
