Pretty and underrated mid-sized southern cities?

I visited Mobile which is a charming small coastal town.The city was not what I expect it to be. I wish I had my camera with me but I didn't. And the city has a unique culture and atmosphere that is different from the rest of Alabama I believe. This New Yorker enjoyed his time in the small coastal town. I liked Huntsville and even though they are in the same state but they are apples and oranges.They are defiantly different outside of topography but I had to give a nod to Mobile.

Monroe? That's a terrible place, you should have put Lafayette in it's place.
