If you want to live anywhere desirable, you're paying at least 500K.

Wrong. Sure there are lot of families that move out of California, attracted to the more bang for your buck in other western states, but young college graduates from other western states absolutely move to California for career opportunities that are greater in California cities than in other western cities.

I live in AZ...spent a year in California and had a blast honestly. When I was a teenager I wanted to move to Southern California. Now, you couldn't pay me to move there.

Not my cup of tea....As stated above anywhere "desirable" is darn expensive...at least anywhere I'd consider moving. The politics are the polar opposite of my preference, their elected officials are not on my short list of role models, the traffic is horrendous, the crime can be pretty bad in places. and the population is just too dang high.

If I ever left AZ, it would likely be to move to Washington or Oregon. But I doubt that will happen any time soon.

More power to the people who DO live or move to California I've got nothing against them...we are all people. There is many wonderful things about the state. I don't mean to just completely bash it and throw it in the gutter....its just not for ME
