Toss up between Florida and Michigan. Florida's beaches are definitely world class, so many of them and they go on for eternity. Michigan's west coast is phenomonal. The sand is pristine and the skies are blue as can be in summer, its just heaven on earth.

For plain old scenery, of course Hawaii, Florida, and California.

For nice beach resorts, def North Carolina.

Nevada has a nice beach too....in Las Vegas's Mandalay Bay...complete with artificial waves!

i'm sure you're right about michigan, but i gotta disagree about FL. i'm originally from there and i'm actually not a beach person at ALL. then again, i lived an hour from the coast so never really was into them... but i never found FL beaches that special. just flat and packed with tourists.

although i've never been to any beaches on the west coast, those in northern california, oregon & washington look incredible. same goes for hawaii, but i guess hawaii is in a league of its own.

the beaches in southern new england are hit & miss. the thimble islands off the coast of connecticut are cool as hell, but the rest of the beaches there don't really appeal to me at all. same with rhode island & massachusetts... block island (RI) and martha's vineyard (MA) are interesting with good beaches, but the actual coastline of both states isn't that appealing to me personally.

well I AM a beach person....Naples, FL is the best!! Dolphins will come right up to you! The sand is perfect, the sunsets are perfect, the water is always warm, its good for swimming....oh how I miss it.

Of course, the california coast -- but not as good for swimming as far southwest florida.

Michigan beaches are particularly nice...and you dont have to worry about those pesky sharks...but its not quite naples

hawaii was nice too, but I must not have gotten to go to the best beaches...I went to ones with lots of rocks and one with black sand that was cool...but not the best! must go back and try again.

The beach here in Oregon is so pretty. There's miles of it ,and many of the beaches are empty. It's clean and wild. The water is too cold to swim in without a wet suit but I have stuck my feet in the water.

Many places the beach is backed up by evergreen trees. The sunsets are amazing.

THe beaches are beautiful in Oregon,Oswald park by Cannon, down south Brookings, all gorgeous,BUT THEY CANT BE USED FOR ANYTHING BUT A NICE WALK...90% of the time you must be bundled up from the rain and wind,,I have never seen anyone in the water (beyond knees) without a wet suit. Not the kind of "beachy beach" most people come to the beach for
