I agree. I just love the crystal clear caribbean blue water found in Florida. I don't know what more you could ask for. You can get shell, pebble and bleach white soft sand all in Florida.
If you like to surf, California is tops. If you like scenery, California is tops. If you like hiking, California beaches are tops. Florida beaches have warmer water, and that's basically the only advantage.

You obviously haven't been to Siesta Key beach in FL. It beats any CA beach.
Not sure if this is because I have only ever lived on the eastern half of the US but I never hear anyone say they are going to California for a vacation and to stay on the beach. When I lived in the midwest, it was Florida every time HANDS DOWN. Maybe out west they go to California, who knows......
