Livability.com put out this list of the seven best ski cities in the US. Usually these 'lists' elect a yawning response but I'd say they've got a well rounded selection and an agreeable list here . Can't argue with Telluride at #1, it's a fantastic mountain town. It's a bit of a bubble walled off from reality by 14,000 foot mountain peaks, but the reality of Telluride is a funky and fun, come as you are kind of place with epic terrain and powder to boot.
Discuss this list, and by all means add some worthy ski towns that arn't listed that you think are the best ski cities.

I think SLC needs to be on that list, as it is a true "city" and very close to world class skiing. Or park city if they really want the ski resort in town. Breckenridge should definitely be on the list.

Telluride is the best though. Went there late this summer when the Aspens were changing. Absolutely beautiful. Great vibe in the town, even during the slower seasons.
I have, numerous times. Pretty cool place with better conditions than people would expect. But it's not a city, it's a resort/village, so I have no idea how it made this list. I wouldn't compare it to other towns on the list and definitely wouldn't rank it above Park City, Steamboat Springs, Crested Butte, Dillon/Silverthorne/Frisco, Carbondale, Truckee, and a host of other small cities. The list was weird, and since they're including varying populations, I'd include some larger (relatively) cities, like Bend and Bozeman.
