1980's-Miami: Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, Miami Vice, Scarface,The Golden Girls, The Drug Wars, McDuffie Trial and Riots,

1990's- Seattle: Grunge Rock, Fraiser, Starbucks, Boeing, Bill Gates and WTO Conf. Riots

2000's-???

When I think of the city of the decade, I usually think of that city as being in the news and spotlight the most during those 10 years. This decade hasn't ended yet, but what could you say is the city of this decade.

Good question, It's hard to choose for this decade. So I'm going to say Boston. Why? Red Sox and Patriots. Like I said, its hard to choose.
By the way. What were the WTO conference riots?

No but now that I think about it, I have seen many commercials for Vegas since 2003. CSI Las Vegas, 2007 NBA all-star game. Vegas may be it. Or perhaps it could be New Orleans.

NYC. Unfortunately this decade will be most remembered for 9/11.

WOW, I almost forgot about all of that. WTO - World Trade Organization. They had their big pow-wow up in Seattle and of course it brought out every group against world trade to picket. Do they not teach all of this stuff in school nowadays I know A LOT is left out of US History books and not every thing can be covered but you would think stuff like this would be.

BTW, yes, good question and one that requires a lot of thought.

The cities that have had the most news generated for the 2000s would be NYC and New Orleans, both for what happened to them. To a lesser extent, DC. So far, these would be the cities of the decade.

Even I can't guess and I STARTED this.
I think our top picks would be Boston, New York, Houston, Vegas, Atlanta, and New Orleans.
Unlike the past decades, this one has alot of towns with alot going on, it seems.
BTW, it's not just news. It can be the city's impact on sports and pop culture. Miami had it the most in the 80's, and Seattle in the 90's.

I pick NYC for the tragedy that happened there and the way it changed America's economy, foreign policy, and people's attitudes.
