I am curious to see if there are cities that are similar to Kansas City out there. I find that KC is:

1. underrated city and metro
2. distinctive four seasons, but winter isn't brutal compared to the upper midwest such as Minneapolis. Don't like alot of snow, although I don't mind seeing small amounts on occasion
4. Slow-paced environment (no rapid changes including population like LA or East Coast)
5. Some technological innovation (Google Fiber and increase of electric car charging stations)
6. Plenty of single and young people

I know KC also has some nightlife, but I could careless for it and I don't want that to be a factor of comparison at all.

I was thinking that Salt Lake City is also similar to KC, except they got gorgeous view of mountains and Mormon religion is pretty huge. Am I wrong on that and is there another city like that?

The most similar cities to Kansas City are Omaha, Des Moines, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and St. Louis and other cities in the Midwest.

Omaha is a metro of 1 million.. KC is a metro of 2 million..

You can say Omaha is half a KC or KC is twice an Omaha.. They are very similar both geographically and in feel.. There are others, but these two cites/metros feel so similar; they're almost married in a way (as goofy as that might sound)...

Peace...

I was thinking of the criteria more so than KC itself.

Indianapolis is probably the most similar. Pretty much everything else in the region is either too large or too small to be a fair comparison. Because of regional differences, KC also doesn't have a ton in common with its coastal peers. I don't think Salt Lake City is a really good comparison at all.

I'm not even speaking cultural similarities or differences honestly. Just based on the characteristics I talked about on my OP. Des Moine or Omaha is WAY too small for it to be like Kansas City. I've also been to Cincinnati and other than that it is a Midwestern city, it is nothing like KC also. Yes, Cinci is underrated, but it is mostly blight and not as up kept. Don't forget to mention that on average, Omaha and Des Moine get more snow than KC.
