Since your husband is looking for work (banking related), your best bet is either Atlanta north metro or Charlotte. The rest of North GA and Western NC are very limited when it comes to availability of professional jobs. I think your husband will have a tough time finding work in those areas you listed in your post.

If you choose Asheville, you will need to choose a surrounding area (outside of Buncombe County) as the home prices in Asheville are out of your range.

This is the news about how citizens of Dahlonega rallied to get rid of a KKK sign in the middle of town:

Going directly to google I found a Washington post article about how the community had rallied together to remove an offensive sign.

It's a great little town in a pretty Valley, with some very friendly people.

As a side note, the KKK group that wanted to hold a rally wasn't even from Georgia - they were from Mississippi. It was all over the news here last week.

On the job front for hubby, Dahlonega would put him within commuting distance of Cumming & Alpharetta. And I know you could find something in Lumpkin County within your budget.

Good luck!
