The issues about the article aside, the author does make a good point about a forthcoming power clash. Many of the large tech giants have been given a lot latitude by the Feds, but things are starting to change. Companies like Facebook have not acted responsibly, and that's going to lead to more regulation. In that sense, Silicon Valley is most likely going to start seeing restrictions stateside similar to what they have been dealing with in Europe.

It's just what these opiniated national authors do to portray their views of DC as some old, sterile city for ugly people who only work their 9-5 gov't job and then just go home.


When it's the opposite. DC is actually quite young, increasingly vibrant every month, and one of the fittest cities for young professionals in the country maybe #1. Also I'm pretty certain there are more college students in DC proper than in SF proper.
