Where are you in Asia? There are a lot of Asians living in California.

Where in the country would you like to settle? Somewhere warm year round? Cold year round? 50/50 mix of weather? Thats probably your best starting point.

Charlotte and Raleigh in NC would be good choices. Affordable, good schools, safe, two of the strongest economies in the U.S. (Charlotte in business/finance, Raleigh in hi-tech/research), very family-oriented and friendly to everyone, awesome sunny 4-season climate, clean and green, people of many races/belifes, and very welcoming. Can't go wrong with either place. Good luck!!!

New Jersey. Overall low crime, very good public and private schools, home to lots of universities including prestigious Princeton University, good weather with all 4 seasons, and a strong economy of its own, plus opportunities in nearby New York City and Philadelphia. In general, the northeastern area of the U.S. is reputed to have the best schools and education...California has very good schools too. Of course, what your children will want to go to school for, may make a difference, as will what line of work you are in.

A few questions. Are you looking on owning a single-family home? If so, how much are you prepared to spend on a home? What sort of weather do you consider nice? Is snow and cold during three months out of the year tolerable? What sort of business industry are you involved in? And lastly, is it important for you to be around a good number of people from your country (and which country is that out of curiosity)? The answers to these will help to steer you in some sort of direction.

Generally speaking though, you'll probably find yourself in the suburbs of a major metropolitan region. The suburbs generally offer low crime and good schools, while the nearby city will offer plentiful business and cultural opportunities. It's just a matter of specifics in terms of cost of living, weather and other aspects important to you as to where to direct you. California is the natural choice as it has the best weather of any place in the U.S. Not to mention, it would offer the quickest flights to Asia if need be (although still horrifically long). However, California, particularly those areas that offer low crime and good schools near a big city, is criminally expensive.

Really depends on where you are from and what you are looking for. Fill us in on more details. What part of Asia are you from? HK, South Korea, India? Do you want to live around other people from your home country?
