In most relocation threads, it's the central theme. "Can I live in [insert place here] on a salary of [insert amount here]?" or "My salary is [insert amount here], what will that get me in [insert place here]?" are the most common thread types. This is no different.
No, it's "my budget is _____."
The premise of this thread has 0 to do with salary either.
It is not classy to discuss. Did I grow up in a different American than all you people? Geez.
People on C-D mention their salaries all the time. No one bats an eye. Unless the salary is over a certain amount, I guess.
Well, yes, it becomes more and more trashy to talk about your money unnecessarily the more you make. Of course. This has been pretty commonly accepted until very recently.
This the internet, people have been “anonymously making a half million bucks at a job that they can do anywhere” since it’s inception. I’d take it with a grain of salt lol. Especially on this website. How many trolls have “exited” flame wars because they were in Barcelona with their girlfriend and didn’t have time for someone’s shenanigans.

Come on, there's PLENTY of the "can I live in _____ with a salary of _____." I know you've seen these threads, and if you haven't a quick google search will turn them up.
And the OP asked specifically if they could do Newport Beach with that kind of money so I'm not sure how it has "zero to do with salary." Maybe they are completely full of crap and just bragging about money/salary they don't actually have. It is the internet after all. But I'm not sure why anyone would be butthurt about this? There's plenty of "not classy" stuff to get upset about on C-D and the rest of the internet. Is this the hill to die on?
