Quick scan.... There is no way on earth would I put Phoenix's Skyline higher than Charlotte's. I would rank Charlotte higher... maybe top 10. Phoenix ? .. about the same level as Corpus Christi or Mobile.
Offhand I would put them
1) NYC
2) Chicago
3) San Fran
4) Seattle
5) Dallas
6) Atlanta
7) Philly
8) Houston
9) Charlotte
10) Pittsburgh
Based on OP's criteria - aesthetic, density, and height
New York
Chicago
Miami
San Francisco
Seattle
Honolulu
Philadelphia
Houston
Atlanta
Los Angeles
Dallas
Boston
Minneapolis
Pittsburgh
San Diego
Jersey City
Detroit
Denver
8. Houston
9. Boston
10. Dallas 11. Pittsburgh
12. Atlanta
13. Charlotte
14. Austin
15. Nashville
16. Minneapolis
I'd put Denver above all of the bold. San Diego is arguably higher than many of these too. SD doesn't have the typical concentrated cluster of tall office buildings or the "money shot" angle, but the expansiveness of its skyline (particularly from an aerial view) is pretty impressive.
I think Honolulu belongs in the Top 15 or 10, its always an underrated skyline on here. Biggest draw back is the somewhat leveling effect/monotony of the towers but Miami is kind of similar in that regard. Both are comprised primarily of condo/apt towers.
I'm kind of surprised some feel Dallas has a better skyline than Atlanta. I'm partial to neither but I personally prefer Atlanta's skyline over Dallas skyline.
