I mean really fine/highbrow type of culture (not mass/pop culture as common in US), and I don't mean the kind of people who pretend to be "cultured" or "classy" just so they can be a snob (condescending) to others (as with some in US), but people who truly have high personal values and genuinely care about others--the kind of people who went to elite (Ivy League) schools, but does volunteer spiritual/charity work for a living (instead of being the head of some top fortune company/corporation), etc...
Wow, lol. The comes off as very piased and pretencious to say the least. Judging people's "intellectual" (very subjective) value by what identity or social group they belong to (Ivy League, CEO, etc.). No words, smh.

So when you said this you really didn't mean it...
I’m busy that day.
I first thought this was a hoax but our OP seems to be a fish out of water (if you glance at his other posts) and searching for something that may not exist. Most social situations here have been dumbed down (sadly) and people behave in ways that do not stand out. That will make it hard for OP to find people with common interests. There may be internet groups that come close. OP comes off as frustrated and overly judgmental so that might get in his way.

This part that I bolded is much of Berkeley in a nutshell, they arent pretentious per se, but they are high minded to the point of mild delusion, and I mean that in the nicest way possible.
Interestingly, UC students are way more corporate and career oriented than locals themselves imo.
However make no mistake, the median home in Berkeley is over a million dollars, so they do take their heads out of the clouds M-F from 9-5 lol
Not really. They'll work at a tech job during the day, do 15 mins of charity work, and then spend three hours telling you about their 15 mins of charity work.
