NY is over 110 cases now. Acela stopped. SUNY might cancel classes March to May. Pretty bad in Ny for how quickly it spread.

Flu and upper respiratory illness cause many more deaths per year than this has. We will all see this virus. When we do we may get sick. We will get better and it will be over. Some very few sickly people could have real problems from this, but honestly they had a lot of problems before this too. Most who have passed are those will COPD or other severe illnesses. Pneumonia and Flu do the same thing to these vulnerable populations. People need to stop panicking. The sooner this virus runs through our country the sooner this insanity will be over and we will have learned a valuable lesson about over reaction and panic.
Florida does not have community spread issues. Of course if you pick up the elsewhere, coming to Florida won’t cure you. The issue at hand is when you see it spread in the community like has happened in Seattle.

Just the direct NYC to DC Acela, which is one train each way per day, not really a loss as this service has been discontinued before. But, this time for the virus.

Population density certainly has a major impact. I read a report last week that 84°F is the magic number at which the virus is inactive and dies and its most active in the 30 to 60° range so the tropics and warm climates certainly bear watching. I wish I had saved the report. areas that are dense, and or enclosed spaces such as cruise ships are the worst environments.

I think a good way to look at the severity of the outbreak is by new case counts. Below are the new case counts by country in the last 72 hours (from March 5-8). Im only listing those with more than 100 new cases reported by the WHO:

Iran: 2,901
Italy: 2,794
South Korea: 1,368
Germany: 535
France: 426
China: 294
Spain: 232
Switzerland: 222
US: 211
Netherlands: 150
Belgium: 146
Japan: 139
Sweden: 126
UK: 121

Whats pretty clear is that as a region, it is mainly affecting Western Europe more than any other place as a whole. Iran and Italy still have a lot to figure out as their case load continues to rise but the number of cases reported in China and South Korea are falling compared to where they were. South Korea has put more well-intentioned effort into fighting this virus while China's appallingly draconian approach does seem to be working. Interestingly enough of the 80,859 cases reported in China to date, 67,707 came from just one province: Hubei where Wuhan is. Of the 3,100 deaths reported in China from COVID-19, only 114 came from outside Hubei.

The data does seem to show that my hypothesis (that weather plays a big role in the virus' spread) seems to be correct.

Looking at today's situation report from the WHO, the virus is thriving in Western Europe and Iran and either stable or declining everywhere else. The US is a bit of a question mark because were really behind on testing:

If one looks at Africa, they barely have any cases.

I believe warmer climates are safe from Coronavirus. So I believe New Mexico is the safest state from Coronavirus due to a very small East Asian population and warm climate.

As a Pakistani Muslim American, I would like to thank each and every one of you for reading this.

Since Corona virus attacks the lungs, I would think that is a really good motivator to stop smoking. Try to get your lungs cleared up and in better health in case you catch a case of the virus.
