I have a friend who has both diabetes and kidney disease and asked me to find out. What are the best sunbelt cities that have the most hospitals, facilities and specialists for those two afflictions?
I would recommend Jacksonville FL which has a Mayo Clinic, University of Florida-Shands Medical Center and Baptist Medical Center. All three are in the Top 50 of US News Best Hospitals for Nephrology/Kidney Care.
Look to Los Angeles — Keck USC, Cedars Sinai, UCI Irvine, and UCLA are all top-rated teaching hospitals that could treat both kidney patients and diabetics. Plus, fires notwithstanding, the weather is great!
There is no real magic about treating Kidney disease and Diabetes. Almost any city of any size could provide services and excellent physicians for those conditions. No matter where you go and no matter how high falutin' the doctors are they will be at the mercy of your lifestyle choices.
