Just popped in my mind when scrolling down by state. Like I think NC posts more than any other state for its size/per capita. NC and Georgia populations are very close in size but the former has over twice the number of posts. another example, Texas has 10 million fewer residents than California but the former hs 600,000 more posts. Texas is first overall in most posts.
The # of posts are mostly based in relocation threads. Or like in the Arizona subforum how many people ask about dry heat questions….
This forum has been around for a decade and a half roughly. 15 years or so. The # of posts reflect moving trends in the country over the past 15 years. Texas has been a big hit because of cities like Austin. Raleigh-Durham has experienced rapid growth due to the “halfback” phenomenon. Florida because well… retirees.
In the cases of other states like California and New York, it’s probably less about relocation threads but general city developments and news. Cities in California and NYC have a lot going on still despite not being national targets of migration. People also generally know something about these two states anyway, so people are less likely to come to a forum to ask questions. Nashville which is booming rapidly now? Not too many people know about Tennessee.
Cities that are not going through rapid development and/or not targets of population growth are going to have largely inactive sub forums. New Mexico and their cities subforums are a great example. Or Alaska.
