If anyone is curious about this topic, this is a good new report about it:
One-in-Ten Black People Living in the U.S. Are Immigrants

the fifth page has info about metro areas and cities.
Quote:
New York City has the largest Black immigrant population of any metropolitan area, numbering about 1.1 million in 2019. The Miami metro area has the second-largest such population, with roughly 490,000, followed by the Washington, D.C., area, home to roughly 260,000. The other top metro areas for Black immigrants include Atlanta, Boston, Houston and Dallas.
Quote:
There has been corresponding population growth in metropolitan areas in the states that experienced significant population growth from 2000 to 2019. In Texas, for example, the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston-Sugar Land metropolitan areas have seen over 200% growth since 2000. The Minneapolis-St. Paul area in Minnesota has also seen a 249% growth. Other metropolitan areas with notably high population growth rates include Orlando (166%), Atlanta (165%), Philadelphia (121%) and Boston (104%).

Does Montreal have a many non Haitian people of Caribbean origin. My impression is that the vast majority of the Caribbean people there are Haitian. I've only been there once so I'm not very familiar with the city.

Interesting that Colorado, Nevada and Washington are the three states seeing the greatest % increase in black immigrants. Minnesota and Texas are next..

In the northeast, it's really Pennsylvania and Massachusetts seeing large black immigrant % increases. NY NJ CT RI are seeing little growth relative to MA and PA.

Indiana and Ohio are also seeing a high % increase (low baseline) since 200.

The southeast and (north)west seem to be where black immigrants are going to grow next, particularly in some states wit smaller AA populations (MN NV CO NV WA are similar to MA in that sense)

For NY, you see some in the bigger Upstate NY cities in part due to refugee resettlement, but also just regular immigration.
