Restaurants that only take cash are around. Actual registered restaurants. Besides food trucks.

Not restaurants but;
There's my landscaper, one of the local firearms retailers and the pawnshop that I can think of offhand.

It's getting more common as bank issued credit systems raise their fees higher.

I took my son to the Patriots Falcons game in Atlanta, at the Mercedes Dome, and they would not take cash. I just wanted to buy a pizza and a big beer, but no. The hotel we stayed in, was the same. The area around the stadium is pretty sketchy, so maybe that's the reason for the hotel. Basically, the f-ing government wants to know about every penny you've made, so they can waste it. They don't want cash around. I say good luck.

This reminds me of an opposite issue I had a few years back (like 2-3 years ago). I was at the ATL airport, and the internet went down in the terminal I was in, so none of the businesses could processes CC transactions. There were long lines in every newsstand w/ folks trying to buy their water, candy, etc. Because I always carry cash, I skipped the line, bought a water and some M&Ms w/ a $10, and went on my way.

To this day, I carry extra/emergency cash in my travel bag(backpack) - about enough for an average hotel room night and a meal in small bills.
