Isn't Austin really "woke" like NYC or SF? I haven't been to Austin and sort of ruled it out because of that. But maybe I'm wrong.

DC is a no go - I dont want to live in a place that issued mandates.
Well if you compare the 2 cities, according to this site, Austin has about 66% registered Democrats while Nashville has about 60%. So they are very similar, in that respect.
But most cities, of course, will have predominantly more Democrat/progressive leaning populations.

The areas outside of Austin and Nashville are red, for sure, in terms of politics.

I'd say Austin is a bit more "blue" than Nashville, just due to the larger influx of huge companies there, like Apple, Whole Foods, Tesla, etc. But Nashville is landing some too, Amazon, Oracle, Alliance Bernstein, etc.

In terms of a "fitness vibe," I'd say it really depends on the company you seek out and find. Beach cities are going to have a generally "fitness oriented" vibe in general, since people spend a lot of time showing off their bodies. So I'd give the edge to Ft Lauderdale and Tampa/St Petersburg.

But Nashville has a few "fitness models" I follow on instagram, so there's no shortage of in shape attractive folks there, at all.

Can you break down your monthly expenditures?

Where do you live now?

I'm a single guy. So
- need a 1 bd apartment - ideally good logistical neigbborhood 4k/mo
- dates
- clothes/fashion
- gym membership
- food/eating out
-taxes
-uber/taxi/subway
-saving/investing (stocks - must be done if you want to move ahead in life)

I won't get into specifics on the exact amounts I spend, but its outlandish. Frankly I cook and weigh 80-90% of my meals at home because I'm into fitness.

If you can use NYC to springboard your career to the next level - do it.
If not, just know its a tough life if you make less than 200k as a single guy.

Single (attractive) girls can get away with making much less as no guy will care if you have even a dozen roommates and you can just get men to pay for most of your outings.

Personally paying about 35k in state/city taxes to a government that hates me doesn't make sense anymore.

At this point I'm leaning towards Fort Lauderdale.

I like the Las Olas area. Does it have enough young and good looking people for me to not get bored?

I suppose going down to Wynwood/brickell in miami is an option as well. It seemed like FLL was cleaner and more upscale though.

You should be asking whether those good looking people are receptive to older conservative Middle Easterners. I know there are people in Houston who are but that's not something you take for granted everywhere.

Being tall, good looking and muscular usually helps, but fair point.

I was going to recommend any of the 4 biggest cities in Texas. But especially Houston and then Dallas. Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the world and has a large ME population. 400k will take you far and nightlife in the city is ample, but not excessive. Not to mention the food in Houston is fantastic and well varied. Houston has a huge fitness community and is home to Alphalete/Alphaland. Houston's downfall is the amount of rain it receives and how prone it is to flooding and tropical storms/ hurricanes.

Dallas is like Houston's corporate twin. It is very similar to Houston, although both Dallas and Houston residents hate being compared. Dallas is also very diverse with a large ME population and ample nightlife opportunities. Central Dallas may be more dense than central Houston, but the metroplex is much more spread out overall. Dallas has better public transport with DART but Houston is catching up in this aspect.

Austin has a huge fitness scene with Zoo Culture bringing in a gym here, and other famous gyms like Big Tex, Onnit, and the up and coming Kollective. Austin also has a great biking community. There are hundreds if not thousands of miles of dedicated bike lanes and paths throughout the city. There is also a large mountain biking community and countless outdoor trails and swim holes to explore. With that said, 400k will stretch you the thinnest in Austin, out of all of the TX cities.
