Out of curiosity, which neighboring state or states do the people in your state make fun of? I mean this in a lighthearted way, not an all out dislike? Which state(s) do you tell jokes about?
In North Dakota it seems South Dakota and Minnesota are the biggest "targets" whereas in Montana it is North Dakota. How about your state? Please don't turn this into an argument about not liking out of state people moving in.

Someone has to do it.

Then again, New Yorkers also make fun of themselves.

Maryland towards Virginia in an occasionally jealous manner due usually to the greater private sector growth the Old Dominion has endured in recent decades (even the state song mocks it!) West Virginia from liberals in terms of how backwoods it is (the same with left-leaning Virginians towards WV).
Delaware gets the least amount of baggage from MD, since most of it is just an extension of MD's Eastern Shore and similar culturally. PA is somewhere in between.

I wouldn't say Connecticut makes fun of it's neighbors. It's the opposite. Connecticut is the state that gets made fun of by its neighbors. NY thinks CT is one giant rich country club. RI thinks CT's beaches are inferior. MA thinks CT isn't part of New England. Maybe CT has a self-confidence problem. Honestly, I'd say CT makes fun of non-neighboring states more (NJ, places in the south).

West Virginians think Virginians look down on them. In reality, we don't think about West Virginia (or only think of it as "weekend hiking") and mostly look down on Maryland.

The empty and rural Southside is a huge psychological gap between Northern Virginia/ Piedmont Core and North Carolina. So we don't think about NC either.

And lots of Virginians would be shocked to discover we border Kentucky and Tennessee.

Louisiana talks about them all.
As for Colorado? I haven't particularly noticed any neighboring state rivals.

in Oklahoma we make fun of Texan hubris and maybe look down at Arkansas "hillbillies" a little bit. But we get from Arkies as much as we give.

In reality we are pretty much one of those "Thank God for Mississippi" states.
