It's kind of weird question but thought I would pose it. Doesn't even have to be active scene just has it shaped the city in a way? Jazz was born in New Orleans made it's way up to Chicago and then in 40's it all moved east to NYC. In all of these places you can definitely see it's imprint in the city's vibe, in it's streets even I don't want to get too Meta but people that are familiar with these places would know what I mean. Almost like you could hear a saxophone blaring in your head when your there.
What are the Jazziest cities in the US that you've seen?
I mean I think we forget how important Jazz used to be. NYC was full of Jazz clubs, it was the Rock n' Roll of it's day (although now even Rock is going the way of the stone age) It's certainly not what it used to be, but the footprints in alot of our cities is still there. I'll always tip when I see an old guy on some NYC street corner blaring a saxaphone, I love that stuff.
And for example there were no comedy clubs back when Rodney Dangerfield started out, he worked out of Jazz spots in New York.
New Orleans should the very first city on everyone’s list.
Well, yeah, totally. But the OP had already mentioned New Orleans and Chicago. I was adding to the list.
